If you have an issue, don't complain about it on here, the staff will do all they can to correct it. Yeah we had some minor hiccups with the tranporation there and back, as well as minor things we could complain about, the odd thing not being replenished, the very occassional meal not being as good as something else you've had, but overall everything is wonderful. So all in all, I don't think you can go wrong with Secrets Maroma for an adults only stay. It's not an issue, in the scheme of what you pay for this hotel it's insignificant, but the tips go along way to making your trip more enjoyable as well as rewarding all the hard working staff at the resort). They did everything they could to make our stay worthwhile, including Carlos and the other staff looking after our room (TIP - Leave tips for these guys, they deserve it and you'll come back to freshly stocked drinks and snacks, in fact if you're like us, being british, expect to tip a lot. A final shoutout to our concierge Esther (building 16) and her replacement whilst she was away (sorry I forgot your name!). Sandie, Jessica, Memo, Edel and Omar make it all especially fun! Sushi chefs around the main pool are also very welcome after a few drinks in the midday sun! Also daily grill options, pizzas and fresh pineapple or coconuts are a must around the pool. The activities are really well organised too. Shout out to Rifkele, Roman, Marvin, Matteo and David for such hospitality. Also at night the beach club is really relaxed with a fantastic fire pit and there’s some cracking tequila here. Also preferred was worth it for us, we had our breakfast each morning at the beach club which is great, it’s just nicer to get away from the busy buffet (although don't get me wrong, there's more options there) and relax with a mimosa and green juice. We had a preferred club swim out room and couldn’t recommend it enough, the water is so warm compared to the main pool so morning and evening swims are always on the cards. Erik, oswaldo and Gonzalo make some excellent cocktails. Spicy mezcalitas, old fashioned and rum floater pina coladas were our favourite. Also, drinks wise, there’s nothing they won’t do, if you want a certain type of drink/cocktail, everyone will do their best to get it for you. We didn’t eat at every restaurant but oceana and himatsu were our favourites (huge shout outs to Amilcar at Oceana and Felix at Himatsu). The hotel - food, drinks, pools were incredible. Stand on the road, be annoying and always visible to the staff and cars pulling in. Again, not the hotels fault, but be prepared for carnage if you’re waiting with other folks, even if you book private! Keep checking, asking, and tipping. We had some hiccups when we got to Amstar after booking a private taxi, word of advice, give a tip when you check in, the fact we didn’t really set us back and we could clearly see people getting in cars after we arrived. There’s way too many amazing members of staff to remember everyone’s names, so I’ve tried my best to give everyone a shout out here, but no one here was anything less than attentative and genuinely interested in making conversation. Where do we start?! A fantastic trip in an amazing hotel with caring members of staff. We had a preferred club swim out room and couldn’t recommend it enough, the water.
